On our Europe Summer Camps, you will gain:

Why Europe?
Fancy a summer you’ll never forget? Want to try out teaching but not sure a classroom setting is for you? Our Europe programme has you covered!
Take part teaching English in an immersive summer camp. All of the camps focus on making learning FUN! They feature themed events and days designed to captivate and excite students. The goal is to ensure kids have fun while learning, engaging them through a variety of activities such as singing songs, playing games, and taking part in camp competitions.
If you enjoy fun and games and working with kids, this is the programme for you.
While your focus during the programme will be on teaching and the summer camps, you will also have an end of programme trip for tourism activities, and start a summer of backpacking, especially if you interrail!
If you join us in Europe, you could spend your summer in:

Germany: lead activities at summer camps based in youth hostels in stunning countryside or bustling town centres -
Italy&Austria: stay with host families in small towns while singing songs and leading outdoor activities on the camps -
Poland: lead conversational activities in country hotels, in beautiful settings -

What does the programme involve?
On our programmes in Europe, you join activity summer camps where you lead activities, such as in drama, sport, arts&crafts, music and more, and teach English through fun and conversations. The camps can be intense, but are a fun way to gain experience in an important area of English teaching.
Prior to starting your camp:

Take part in training to prepare you for your time at camp; this is mainly delivered online,, with short orientations or inductions on arrival -
Begin your TEFL qualification -
Receive advice on interrailing and how’s best to travel to and from your programme -
Meet your fellow Gotoco'ers online
During your time in Europe, you will

Teach for 3-6 weeks in a fun summer camp environment -
Teach English and lead games, creative and sports activities with local kids and your fellow Gotoco'ers -
Use any free time (usually 1-2 days per week or an end of programme trip) to explore, either independently, with your hosts, or with your fellow teachers -
Work towards your TEFL qualification -
Immerse yourself in the culture; get involved in community events, try new foods and have a go speaking the language
Daily camp schedules vary by country and programme, but will often include:

Morning lessons: informal English lessons or conversational activities with games, mime, debate and drama -
Afternoon activities: trips, hikes, music, drama, sports, arts and crafts, games and more! -
Evening activities: disco, traditional dances, talent shows, camp fires, karaoke, party games and more
At the end, you will join your fellow Gotoco’ers to celebrate your time on the programme:

Reflect on your experiences and personal growth throughout the programme -
Relax after the summer camps and see another side of your placement country -
Mark your achievements and get ready to embrace new adventures ahead! -
Complete your TEFL after returning home and access continuous professional development support, including references for job applications
What do you get?
Our Europe Summer Camps are a great way to get a taste of living and working abroad, specifically in the TEFL sector.
For this programme, you pay a discounted fee of £1,400 to access our TEFL course (up to Level 5) with a guaranteed placement. If you’re a university student, you can apply for funding from your university to support you. Read more below and here.

How can you secure funding?
We want to make teaching and travel more accessible, so we arrange funding wherever possible for our programmes.
If you’re a university student in the UK, you can apply for funding for our Europe Summer Camps through your university. You can read more and see a list of our university partners on this link.
This programme is also available for graduates or people who have not attended universities, and is open to applicants from around the world. If you have access to funding to support your participation from other sources, we’ll be pleased to support your funding applications with paperwork and references or programme confirmations.
Why Interrail?
Turn your summer teaching experience into a real adventure!
Interrailing allows you to traverse the continent on your way to and from your summer camp. You’ll see what many other travellers won’t. Interesting towns and countryside – you will get to learn how to travel by yourself or in a group of travellers with the challenge of figuring out “where to next?”. You will have the chance to meet other backpackers on their way around Europe too!
If you are on your university funding and meet your university’s widening participation criteria, then you may also be eligible to receive funding towards your travel. You should speak with your university funding department about this.

How do you apply?
Places on our Europe Summer Camps are filled on a rolling basis. For the best chance of securing a place and having time to apply for funding, apply for a programme with us as soon as possible. You can apply on this link.
Once you complete your application, you can select your preferences for summer camps in Europe on the form below.
We will then speak with our partners across Europe and invite you to interview with the right camp for you. Some camps will require you to complete a pre-interview task as well to help them to get to know you better.
Please note that team selection is a competitive process with our European partners and selections are made based on a range of factors, including a balance of skills and experience within a team. This means that your first choice cannot be guaranteed, but we will work with our partners to match you to one of your top five choices, and all of our camps will provide you with valuable teaching experience, the chance to backpack across Europe, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in a local culture.
